Add Coconut oil to your Beauty Routine

Add Coconut oil to your Beauty Routine

You know that it's a healthy alternative for cooking, but did you know that coconut oil is great for your skin and hair, too? Here's how to add it to your beauty routine:
1. Remove makeup.
With a cotton pad, gently apply it to your face to wipe off your foundation, eye shadow, and more. Then, follow up with your nightly cleansing regimen.

2. Moisturize skin.
It can soothe dry hands, save cracked feet, and even heal dry cuticles. Simply rub a small amount into your skin and reap its moisturizing benefits. Or, add your favorite scent to whipped, unrefined coconut oil for a fluffy, moisturizing lotion. You can also rub it on chapped lips as a last-minute remedy. Yum!

3. Slough off dead skin.
Like olive oil, it's the perfect base for an easy homemade body exfoliator. Simply add a handful of granulated sugar, ground coffee, or salt to create a thick paste. Scrub it along your body, hands, and feet to remove dead, dull skin. Our beauty director April Franzino also suggests trying Organic Virgin Coconut Body Scrub  for a soft, smooth complexion.

4. Brighten your face.
Coconut oil is an inexpensive way to recreate a youthful, dewy look. Just dab a little bit along your cheekbones — it lightens cheeks just like a highlighter and it even brings out the natural pigments in your face. No blush required!

5. Shave your legs.
Out of shaving cream? Use coconut oil instead. Your razor will glide down your legs just as easy, and, when you're done, you'll be left with silky soft skin.

6. Tame frizz.
Rub a small amount on pesky flyaway hairs in a pinch. Franzino really likes Coconut Oil Hair Shine . Just don't add a lot or you'll overload your hair with too much oil.

How to Make Your Hair Grow

1, Eat a healthy diet

Eating a diet rich in protein and vital vitamins and minerals is an essential prerequisite to healthy hair growth. Opt for foods high in vitamins A, B, C, and E, iron, zinc, copper, magnesium, and selenium. Vitamin B-complex, in particular, is extremely important for making your hair grow faster.
So, include a variety of foods like milk, cheese, yogurt, chicken, eggs, whole grains, salmon, spinach, broccoli, bell peppers, cabbage, parsley, grapefruit, avocado, brown bread, oats, and alfalfa in your diet to nourish your hair and scalp. Plus, drink fresh fruit and vegetable juices, such as orange, grapefruit, carrot, beet, and lettuce juice.
Fish, flax seeds, walnuts, beans, winter squash, olive oil, and other foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids are also good for hair growth as about 3% of a hair shaft is made up of omega-3 fatty acids

2, Use castor oil

Being rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, especially omega-9 fatty acids, castor oil promotes hair growth naturally.

As this oil is quite viscous, mix the castor oil with an equal amount of coconut, olive, or almond oil. Massage your scalp with it and leave it on for 30 to 45 minutes. Then shampoo your hair.
You can also add essential oils, especially rosemary, peppermint, eucalyptus, lavender, or thyme oil, to the castor oil and then put it in your hair.

3, Massage your scalp

Massaging promotes blood flow to the scalp, which in turn stimulates the hair follicles. In addition, deep condition your hair once a week with a hot oil treatment or deep conditioning hair mask.
  1. Apply the oil (preferably warm) or conditioner to your hair.
  2. Gently rub your fingers on your scalp in a circular motion for three to five minutes.
  3. Rinse the oil or conditioner out of your hair.

4, Flip your hair upside down

This is one of the most popular tricks to promote faster hair growth. Just flip your hair upside down by flipping your head over for two to four minutes daily. It is believed to work by improving circulation.

5, Whip up an egg mask

Eggs are Highly beneficial for faster hair growth because they are packed with protein and also contain iron, sulfur, phosphorus, zinc, and selenium. You can use an egg hair mask at least once a month.
  • Whisk an egg. Mix in four tablespoons of grapeseed oil and a few drops of lavender oil. Apply it on your hair and scalp and leave it on for half an hour. Finally, rinse it out and shampoo your hair as usual.
  • Apply a mixture of two egg yolks and two tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil on your scalp. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash it out with cold water and then shampoo your hair.
  • Alternatively, whisk an egg and add one cup of milk, two tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil, and the juice from half a lemon to it. Apply it on your scalp and leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes before washing it out and shampooing your hair.

Many uses for baby powder

Detangle jewellery

Don’t be tempted to throw away any tangled jewellery.
Give them a quick sprinkle of baby powder and rub between your fingers and thumb to gently loosen any stubborn knots.
This little trick also works well on any shoelace knots.

Keep feet and shoes clean

Ballet shoes and pretty pumps may be fashionable and comfortable but we don’t need to tell you that wearing shoes without socks is a recipe for smelly feet.
Lightly sprinkle some baby powder in the insides of your shoes and rub into your feet, every morning. The powder will absorb any sweat during the day – keeping your feet fresh and your shoes tip-top.

Refresh your sheets

Most of us sweat whilst we sleep and, needless to say, more so during these balmy Summer nights. You may be inclined to wash your sheets more frequently but keep costs down by reaching for the baby powder instead.
Keep your sheets fresher for longer by dusting some baby powder between your bed sheets before and after you go to bed. The powder will soak up any moisture and the comforting scent will also help you nod off.

Keep ants at bay

If you spot any ants in your home, sprinkle baby powder into the area to keep them away – for free. Ants, according to experts, aren’t keen on the texture or scent of baby powder so will stay away from it.
It’s a great alternative to using harmful (and expensive!) ant repellents around children

Soak up spills and leaks

If your little one or pet has an accident on your carpet or rug then baby powder can help remove any lingering smells.
Wet the area, blot with kitchen roll then sprinkle baby powder on the area. Let it dry and hoover over.

Lift oil stains

When cooking with hot oil it’s common to get annoying splash backs on your clothes.
Lift any oil stains by sprinkling baby powder on both sides of the material. Lightly rub in and leave to soak in. Hand-wash and leave to air - the oil stain should have disappeared by the time it’s dry.

Sprinkle sandy skin

Next time you’re on a family day out by the sea remember to pop your baby powder in your beach bag. There’s nothing worse than kids – and partners – moaning about their sandy feet and toes.
So, for a quick and easy way to remove irritating grains, sprinkle baby powder on their sandy areas and get them to do a little shake. The sand will just drop off!

Silence creaky floor boards

A quick dusting of baby powder is a temporary yet free quick-fix for silencing those annoying squeaks and creeks in old floorboards.
The baby powder gets in the cracks and eliminates the friction causing the noise. Simply dust on and work into the cracks with an old paint brush.
